Boutique Hospitality Heading

Two recent award-winning projects demonstrate the transformative power of SkLO lighting to enhance boutique hospitality projects. The Madrona, located in Healdsburg, California, is a historic mansion that has been joyfully reimagined by designer Jay Jeffers as a world-renowned hotel. Another example, Booker Vineyard, nestled in the picturesque Paso Robles wine region, is a remarkable collaboration between Katie Martinez Design and Signum Architecture. In both these world-class ventures, SkLO Lighting served as a vital partner to enrich the design vision and elevate the visitors' experience.

The Madrona

Conceived by Jay Jeffers, who brings an expert background from bespoke residential homes, The Madrona represents Jay's debut venture into the world of hospitality. Filled with imagination, charm and vibrant references to the property's past, the renovation has given new life to a beloved local landmark dating from 1880. The hotel has won numerous awards most recently as one of the World's Best New Hotels 2023 from Travel & Leisure magazine.

Within the hotel's guestrooms, Jay chose SkLO Twin 1.0 Sconces to reflect the welcoming atmosphere, flanking fireplaces and composing spaces between windows and trim. Though modern and pared-down in shape, the sconces are successful within the rich historicism of Jay's design, casting an inviting glow that accentuates his schemes for the interiors.

Booker Wines

Amidst the rolling hills of Paso Robles in California's Central Coast lies Booker Wines, a state-of-the-art wine tasting facility that becomes a modern lounge. Designed by Katie Martinez of Katie Martinez Design in collaboration with Signum Architecture, Booker Wines offers relaxed spaces inspired by the property's rich history and scenic landscape. The winery's blend of world-class quality with an easy, residential feel earned it status as a Finalist in the prestigious Hospitality Design magazine awards in 2022.

At Booker Wines, SkLO lighting underscores the ambiance of artisanship that pervades the property. For the VIP Terrace, Martinez chose two Float 1.0 Pendants, to enhance the lounge's allure with their handblown spheres and soft glow. These SkLO fixture embody the value of craft while pairing perfectly with the low-key sophisticated atmosphere.

    Making Of

      Crescent Vessel (1)

"The Crescent Vessels were so much fun to develop. They are about blending proportions, colors and shapes into a cohesive group. We are using repetition of all of these variables in a subtle way, to allow for a cohesive group to emerge without sacrificing the individual identity of each piece. They are both functional vases and completely sculptural objects."
