The choice of Healdsburg as the location was no accident. Although SkLO's roots extend to Czech glassblowing, the brand's California origins are deeply significant as well. Healdsburg is the town where the three founders, entrepreneur Pavel Hanousek, and designers Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak, originally met and dreamed up their vision for SkLO. Today with their new headquarters, they continue to draw inspiration from the picturesque agrarian community, and to meld this sensibility with the ancient art of Czech glassblowing. Also, the showroom's location, one hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge, positions SkLO as a dynamic resource and collaborator for the Bay Area's dealers, architects, designers, and beyond.

"Our new headquarters provides our visitors with a very personal experience with our work, and also with our brand," says Hanousek. "This new venture is a reflection of place. Like California itself, it is casual and friendly, inviting and open." 

The creation of the new headquarters was a labor of love. The layout, design, construction, and even the crafting of various built-ins and furniture was undertaken in-house, highlighting the brand's hands-on manufacturing ethos. This space shows a passion for the art of creation as well as a reflection of SkLO's identity, and an opportunity to immerse visitors in the brand's narrative.

For the future, the headquarters welcomes not only potential clients, but also the brand's dealers and international collaborative networks. The showroom presents an opportunity to connect with the world of SkLO, fostering a deeper understanding of the brand, its creations, and its contemporary manifestation of craftsmanship.

Making Of 

"The View Bowl is created by combining two separate shapes while hot on the glassblower's pipe. The form of the bowl is pressed against a cylindrical base, the rounded surface of the bowl pushing into the space within the cylinder. The tops and bottoms are then cut and polished. Each View Bowl is made up of two transparent colors, one for the bowl and one for the base, creating a complex color relationship."
