A vessel pierced by a rope; an oversize wall sculpture in shape of a necklace; a container that appears to be stretching under its own weight. All of these designs (Rope, Bead and Hold) are a part of SkLO's Object Collection, a group of handblown Czech glass accessories that doubles as a laboratory for innovation. "Our Object Collection is often where ideas and experimentation with new colors and glassblowing techniques find their beginning," explains Paul Pavlak, Partner and Lead Designer. Since the founding of the company over ten years ago, the Object Collection has grown to 34 offerings that push boundaries and re-imagine the possibilities of handblown glass.
For Fall 2023, this trajectory continues with several new releases including one new product family called Blend, a line extension for the popular Pinch series and 11 new colorways including an exciting frosted glass finish.
"Our Object Collection is such an important part of the SkLO story," says Pavlak. "This Fall, there are new designs we are excited to debut, as well as revisions that breathe new life into some of our favorite designs in the Collection."

Blend
Subtle curved forms of handblown glass taper to a narrow top in the design for Blend, a brand-new product grouping. Soft opaque glass color fades in intensity from top to bottom. The glass vessels are then capped with a brushed brass finial, which continues the silhouette and also defines the vessel's opening. The muted colorways of New Blue, Oyster and Pastel Green contrast perfectly against the brass, whose living finish will darken with age. The Blend Vessels work beautifully as solo vessels and in compositions of two or three.
Available in three sizes (Small 6”/150mm Dia x 8”/205mm H, Medium 8”/205mm Dia x 13”/330mm H, and Large 10”/255mm Dia x 17”/435mm H) and three glass colors.

Dew
Dew vessels are substantial, visually complex pieces that evoke the molten nature of handblown glass. They start as simply shaped vessels of transparent colored glass which are then layered with dripping pieces of molten clear glass. The outside is then given a frosted finish. A secondary process of "cold-working", where the tops of the vessels are cut and polished, adds another level of detail and complexity. This compelling design comes in three bold new colorways: Smoke Frosted, Strawberry Frosted, and Steel Blue Frosted.
Available in two shapes (Round 8:/200mm H x 10"/260mm Dia and Tall 13"/240mm H x 9.5"/240mm Dia) and three new frosted glass colors.

Seam
A special glassblowing technique developed by SkLO gives these vessels their "seam" while hot on the glassblower's pipe. This creates the unique asymmetrical off-center detail that becomes the signature detail of these beautiful vessels. When the vessels' tops are cut during the process known as "cold-working", the curving double opening is revealed. Seam is now re-introduced in a new palette of five rich transparent colors, and then the glass is frosted, resulting in a vibrant deep finish.
Available in two sizes (Small 7.5"/190mm H x 10"/250mm W, and Large 13"/330mm H x 10"/250mm W) and five new frosted glass colors.

Pinch
Pinch comprises cylindrical vessels of handblown glass which transition from round at the base to oval at the top. With the addition of the new 'mini' size and plum glass color, SkLO expands the compositional possibilities of using these vessels in groups. The 'mini' is also just the right size for smaller shelving, niches and furniture proportions. Produced in a dynamic palette of transparent glass colors, these are minimal and subtle sculptural forms, yet entirely functional vases.
Available in one new "mini" size (4.5"/110mm Dia x 7"/180mm H) in transparent plum color glass, as well as the existing grouping of Small (9"/230mm Dia x 12"/300mm H) in olivin glass, Medium (7.5"/190mm Dia x 15.5"/400mm H) in pine tree green glass, and Large (9"/230mm Dia x 20"/500mm H) in copper ruby glass.

"The elegant glass shapes of the Blend Vessels were established early in the design process. The stately elegance of these forms appealed immediately. We spent a lot of time experimenting on how to finish the tops and how to bring resolution to the glass shapes in a way that was not obvious or expected. When we brought the brass elements in, we knew it was the right move. These vessels now have a personality that makes you want to get to know them better and spend time with them."
